About ASM
Union of Artisanal Miners for Prosperity (ASM)
Building a Stronger Future for Artisanal Mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo
The Union of Artisanal Miners for Prosperity (ASM) is an organization dedicated to representing, supporting, and professionalizing artisanal mining cooperatives and miners throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo.
We believe artisanal and small-scale mining can be a formal, responsible, profitable, and inclusive sector that creates meaningful economic opportunity and serves as a driver of sustainable community development. ASM works to connect cooperatives and miners with the financing, technical expertise, equipment, commercial partnerships, and resources they need to strengthen their operations and improve their livelihoods.
Our work also focuses on creating greater transparency throughout the mineral value chain. We promote independent mineral analysis, certification, traceability, responsible commercialization, and compliance so that miners and cooperatives can better understand the value of their minerals and participate more effectively in the marketplace.
Through partnerships with financial institutions, government stakeholders, technical organizations, and international partners, ASM is building a stronger network of opportunity for artisanal miners and the communities that depend on them.
Our Mission
Empowering Miners. Strengthening Cooperatives. Creating Prosperity.
Our mission is to represent, defend, promote, and professionalize the interests of artisanal mining cooperatives, artisanal miners, women miners, and participants throughout the artisanal mining value chain.
We are committed to improving the working and living conditions of artisanal miners while helping create a mining sector that is better organized, more transparent, financially accessible, and sustainable.
